The title of this painting means "Snacks and Silver" in Japanese. I like painting these colorful products from a culture other than my own. They bring context to the composition that would probably feel completely different to someone from Japan.

All your work is so wonderful Jeff but Pocari Sweat brings back so many memories of my life in Japan (I do love a can of sweat ;-).
ReplyDeleteI just wish I could get to see your work 'in the flesh' so if I win the lottery you're at the top of the list along with Neil and Karen :-)
I love the slight variations of each square and it keeps my eyes darting from one to the other.
Thanks Paul! Your comments mean a lot, coming from such a masterful artist. I'd like to visit Japan myself, one day. I love the amazing cultural mish-mash in Japanese pop culture.
